Are We Done Yet?

My little housemate rolled in something nasty. I figured as long as I had to give her a bath I might as well get out the clippers.

Cairn terriers have two coats, a soft under coat and a hard outer coat. Ideally, the coat should be pulled out using a shedding tool. This takes hours. I was quite determined to do this right when I first adopted her. Bought a video, the tools...I soon realized that she had more patience than I did. So I cheat. I use a clipper to get the main work done and then pull just a little to maintain the hard coat.

It still takes me a couple hours and she will sit patiently while I move her around, pick up one paw, then the next... Sometimes I take a break, talk on the phone, we might have a snack.

It has been a lovely Sunday. I caught up with paperwork, went for a walk with a friend, dog is sweet smelling, I even brushed her teeth . We are settled in to watch the Oscars.
