National Sport

The road opposite the house is closed today. I have been doing some work on the computer but have been distracted by the large amount of cars trying to turn round on a narrow road by a blind bend.
Why national sport? Well the roads on Guernsey are narrow and if anything needs to happen such as road repairs, putting scaffolding up, moving house with a large lorry etc the only way to do it is to close the road. As a result when you set off in your car you never know how many road closures you will find. 2 weeks ago I was following a road closure diversion only to find the road I was diverted down was also closed!
According to the states website there are 25 road closures in Guernsey today and the reason the road opposite is closed is to "Replace defective gully grill and resurface two worn cross trenches" and will last 3 days!
