The Multiple Sclerosis Talk

This afternoon I was asked to give a talk to the local M.S. society on the benefits of taking therapy dogs to visit people that are ill.

Pets as therapy and if you take the first initial from each of these words pat as the animals are known as been around since 1983 and was founded by a lady named Lesley Scott Ordish, she had seen how depressed and lonely people in institutions became when separated from their pets.

It started as a pilot scheme but soon became national, at the moment over 4,700 dogs and 108 cats are active therapy workers and around 130,000 patients benefit every week from the work they do, this equates to 6.75 million beneficiaries of the service every year and it is the largest voluntary service in Europe using domestic animals.

This is Roo impressing yet another lady, he was as good as gold and I'm sure you all agree he certainly deserves his place in the last six finalists at crufts.

Looking forward to meeting some of my blipper friends as we will be there Thursday, Friday and we must be there Saturday as its his big day.
