The nose of the rat
Several of these rather nice rats can be found hidden around Portishead as part of the town Art Trail.
As you may have guessed from the name, Portishead is a small town and dock (now a marina) that can be found near the ends of the Rivers Avon and Severn where they flow into the Bristol Channel.
This particular rat is facing the direction of Avonmouth and Portbury docks which can both be seen clearly from Portishead.
Portishead is very good for viewing shipping as its deep shipping lane passes nearer the mainland than any other place in Britain. Huge container ships and car carriers rumble impressively past, churning the water and sending their wake to shore in waves.
