back in the day

I ran across this old photo of me and some friends back when I was younger. I'm the one in the pink sweater and polka dots, and the girl to the right of me was my best friend Jordanna. She died last year of ovarian cancer, very suddenly. It was devastating, even though we had lost touch through the years. She was such a sweet and kind person, one of the most generous I had ever met.

The girl to the left of me is my little sister, who I've been estranged with ever since I got disfellowshipped from the Jehovah Witness religion. If you look at the big sign in the back, it's a sign for the Jehovah Witness convention we were attending at the time of the picture. The girl on the left later became a good friend of mine, then chose to go back to the religion and hasn't spoken to me in years.

Religion can be so divisive.
