Old Sunday School
This is the building where yesterday's '1921' sign is, but I am not sure if it relates to it or not as there was apparently an old school there in the early part of the 19th century which was used as a church.
I think I only went in it once when an auction was being held there. It was just one rectangular room with a raised platform or stage at one end. I'm not sure when it ceased to be used as a Sunday school but the church built a family room attatched to the back of the church in the '70's.
It was leased to the mill opposite for many years as offices but when that establishment moved it's premises it was left unused and in a very poor condition.
The church decided to sell it at a knock down price which caused some mixed feelings as, as I said yesterday, it was built with money raised by public subscription. Also it was bought by the family who owned the mill and converted into a house for a member of that family. Leaving feelings that they had let it fall into disrepair and then taken advantage of it's cheap price.
Anyway here it still stands 90 years on.
Doing this early as I am off to the cinema later this afternoon.
Happy Leap Day everyone!!
