Happy in the sunshine!

Here are the four girls munching their corn in the afternoon sunshine. I thought they - well Peggy deserved a mention as she has started laying again. Today was the second egg this week. What a good girl - thank you Peggy.

Peggy is a light (white) Sussex and Daphne a speckled Sussex. Both are fantastic layers and have a great temperament. Doris the Welsummer lays lovely eggs but as yet has not started to lay again after the winter. Expect her to start any day - well have done for a few weeks. Betty the buff cochin is so sweet and pretty (well they all are). She will start to lay probably in a few weeks, then go broody for a month and lay for another month and then malt. By that time it will be winter and she will rest. So really she is just our pretty (useless) chicken. But we love her dearly
