Bradford odeon making Bradford British

My city park muse was very busy today with photographers, TV camera men & people enjoying the sun etc so of course I had to take my own shot of the fountains waters, I couldn't resist!

I spotted one of the women from tonight's Channel 4 (9pm) offering 'Make Bradford British' being interviewed by a TV crew but didn't have time to blip. Should be an interesting evenings telly if a little uncomfortable.

I'm not sure about the claim that Bradford is one of the most segregated cities in the UK but I'll reserve judgement until after the show. The difficulty with such 'shockdocs' is that they will no doubt have picked the extremes of views to make interesting TV while in reality the majority of people in Bradford (apart from the occasional riot) get on quite well.

All it takes is a smile, education & a willingness to understand others. My two lesbian friends lived in a predominantly Asian area of Bradford & Mr Shah next door often cooked Indian food for them & they baked for him so just nip round to your neighbours next time you cook you'll make a new friend!

I think the main reason for racism & xenophobia is simply ignorance. I don't like the fact that ever bigger schools have turned education into a factory assembly line.

Cultural studies, ethics & art should be a core part of education along with the core subjects not just those subjects that the government think will turn students into the next generation of tax generators.
