Victoria Dock
Opened in 1851, the first vessel to enter Victoria Dock was the Royal Victoria, a steamer trading between Leith and London. It is now disused and forms a major landscaping feature in front of the Scottish Government building 'Victoria Quay', whose construction began in 1993 and the building was officially opened by the Queen on Monday 1 July 1996. It is the largest single office of the Scottish Government, home to its Development and Education Departments. In the distance can also be seen Ocean Terminal shopping centre.
