Saltaire II
I was down here after work to blip a week ago, and drove this way as one of my choices last week was a nicely exposed black and white of this building. So that was my plan.
However the light was a bit earlier, so brighter than last week and I liked the colours in this image. It's interesting sometimes how the colour tones and hues are different in camera than in the eye. Something to do with the limit of the camera, but also the adjustments that the eye/brain make, that the camera doesn't. The dusk and dawn time seem to show this off to best effect.
This building is more or less opposite last weeks image and is one of the old mill buildings on the other side of the canal. These were vast places, in a less manufacturing base of todays UK, buidlings this size seem only to be built as large logistics nodes for Amazon or other retailers. This building is largely now residential flats, though the front(left in this picture) remains office/work space - I remember in a previouis incarnation it was the local PCT - a kind of health board running my line of work in Bradford And Airedale. I've spent many an enlightening and/or frustrating afternoon or morning here in the past.
