Beach Sunrise.
Lovely Sunday today - just the right amount of lazy without feeling like I've achieved nothing! Woke up early with a phone call from M, and after looking out the window at a lovely sunrise, walked down to the beach and arrived by 8.30am. Walking through town early on a Sunday morning is a bizarre feeling; I was really aware of being able to hear my own footsteps on the pavement, unmuddled by the sounds of everyone else. I wandered up and down the beach for a while before taking myself off for breakfast at the Sand Dollar (one of my favourite cafes; unfortunately getting more and more expensive each time I go...) Quite proud now that I can sit in a cafe and eat my breakfast on my own, reading the paper, without feeling too self-conscious. The picture is one of the groynes working hard to hold back the sand to the beach... It didn't seem to be doing an amazing job this week, as even the groynes at the far end of the beach were exposed - it must be a Spring tide just now.
After my breakfast, I walked back to my flat and did a little bit of cleaning, before catching the bus out to see my friend Anna and her little boy; 4 weeks old yesterday! We had a spot of lunch and took a long walk with one of Anna's dogs in the woods behind the cottage as dusk fell; Finlay seemed to quite enjoy it too! When we got back, Anna's partner had arrived back from biking with the second dog, so we all piled onto the sofas in the living room and ate some amazing vegetable curry that Anna had made, followed by my homemade banana cake with toffee ice cream. Unfortuately Finlay had fallen asleep on my chest and I was too reluctant to put him down while I ate dessert, so I MAY have spilt a little bit of toffee sauce on poor wee Finlay. Luckily Anna and Scott didn't seem to mind (in all probability due to wiping far worse things off the little cutie in the last 4 weeks...)
The taxi I'd booked to take me into Banchory for my bus back to Aberdeen didn't show up, but Scott ran me into the village just in time and I hopped on a bus home and to bed. Lovely weekend with lovely friends :)
