Bud-oing!
I don't know about you but - regardless of official dates - we've decided to start spring here this week. Yep. It's all kicking off in Devon. Spring is springing.
Bulbs are great and lovely and vibrant and all that and I love looking out of the kitchen window and seeing daffodils under the beech tree and the blue sky and being able to hang my washing out to dry and hearing the 'mu-uh-reh!' of newborn lambs and not having to wear a coat on every walk... (count those 'and's ... do I win a prize?)
...
...but there's something rather magical about the less obvious stuff - the stuff we can 'feel'. Whatever it is that tells the birds to get busy and the animals to start (- ahem -) you-know-what-ing. You know - that Bud-oinging feeling? The frisky, more wide awake, more positive feeling. The tickle in the air. The jiggle in our legs to get moving.
And then there's teeny tiny things that you can only see on closer inspection. The hawthorn bushes still look sharp, stark, jagged and wintery but I got up really close this evening - just out of interest, and they're anything but wintery. Mini, soft, bright green buds are peeping out and unfurling their leaves and reaching for the sun already.
They're bud-oinging too.
We climbed over gates on the way home. Frisky, or what?!
;o)
So... erm... what happened today?
*scratches chin*
Spring happened!
