Loughrigg Tarn

Loughrigg Tarn, round the back of Rydal and Grasmere, has long been one of my favourite tarns. For those of you who are unsure what a tarn is, it's Old Norsk for "small lake".

Today at the tarn started overcast, in fgact, we drove through dense fog to get there, but late morning / early afternoon, it started to clear, and by 4pm, there was hardly a cloud in the sky.

I took this on an Infra Red converted Nikon D100, just as a band of sunlight hit the far side of the tarn.
