Thistle Down

Cat and Dog

T'was a cat I had,
And a dog I wanted.
I lived in a flat,
For my house was haunted.

My cat was white,
And she bit me hard.
Both of my hands,
Were bitten and scarred.

I wanted a dog,
That would not wail.
One that was friendly,
And would wag his tail.

The cat had rights,
And it made me mad.
Because it wanted to eat,
The same as I had.

Now...to get a dog,
I said, "No...Nix".
For to have them both,
Just wouldn't mix.
