Another Breakthrough

This simple image of a handsome cat lying on our couch may not seem to mean any more than just that. However, for this lovely handsome guy, life has not been a bed of roses.....or foam filled cushions!! My hubby and I took him home from a cat rescue in Nottingham after he had been found living on the streets for 18 months. When taken into the rescue shelter he had a broken leg and was terrified of people. But we knew he was the one for us.
Now after almost 5 years, Dougal has matured into a complete gentleman, but it has been a very gradual process and ALWAYS on his terms and in his timing. The reason this photo is so significant is because he NEVER sat on the couch until about 3 weeks ago!! We don't know why he wouldn't before that. We just accepted it, although he was always encouraged to do so if he wanted to..
This is my first image on Blipfoto and one that means an awful lot to me.
Can I just encourage anyone who has adopted an animal from a rescue, just be patient. They may not always do the things you expect them to do or hope they will do, but they will be so rewarding as they go from one little breakthrough to the next!
