the day Hollywood came to town
It started with a note through the door about 10 days ago, a filming schedule for Hitched for the Holidays. This morning we woke to find lorries arriving in the streets surrounding ours, huge pieces of equipment being unloaded and a giant heap of snow.
By lunchtime white felt blankets were being unrolled across lawns, bits of felt were strewn in trees and Christmas lights were put up outside the church and in the surrounding houses. There were hundreds of metres of cables taped to the streets and huge, huge spotlights in place. When it got dark, snow was laid out on top of the blankets, a snow machine was put outside the church and then the outside filming began. Turns out its a Hallmark film starting Joey Lawrence who used to be in Blossom about 15 years ago. We kept looking out for Will Smith but he never appeared. An NYC taxi sped up and down the street, people came out of the church and said a few things to the cameras while the snow machine (which is really really noisy!) gave the illusion of falling snow and then someone shouted Cut! And they did it all again, and again, and again, and again...
