The safety gate has been successfully installed - thank you Grandad!

I had this silly thought of 'aw but he really enjoys trying to climb the stairs...' and felt that I was somehow depriving him of some sort of adventure.

I shall not be one of those mothers that gives in to everything and anything just to keep the child happy! Can not abide spoilt children.
