Toisa Polaris

This is the 'Toisa Polaris' It is a so called 'Multi Purpose Offshore Support Vessel'. In earlier days offshore installation work at sea was very visible. Almost all oil and gas producing facilities were operated from the surface. Now with an ever increasing demand for crude oil and gas, the exploration sites shifted from shallow-, via deep-, towards ultra deep water. From water depths up to 3000-4000 meters, you cannot reach the surface anymore with conventional structures. Sub sea installation work became therefore very important. For the installation of relatively small sub sea structures you don't need installation vessels like the Hermod with enormous cranes. You can do this also with vessels like the 'Toisa Polaris' This vessel has everything you can imagine and dream of; Dynamic Positioning Class III, a 150 tonnes Crane, Saturation Divers facilities for depths up to 300 meters, a carousel for pipe laying operations, a double ROV spread, accommodation for 104 crew members and finally a heli deck. Thrusters, azimuth thrusters; you name it and the Polaris has it. And all because of everybody willing to pay extraordinary prices for one liter of gasoline.
