Common Coots fighting, London Wetland Center
By the end of February, aggression between birds becomes increasing common as they seek mates or strive to hold territory. I have been watching frequent, short-lived skirmishes breaking out between Common Coots. They seem particularly quarrelsome. But perhaps this perception is more to do with their social and open water habitat which makes it easier to observe their behaviour.
I am yet to take an image I am happy with, but this is one which is a part of my efforts to capture their seasonal aggression.
