A George Gilbert Scott Cathedral in Glasgow
A sunny morning in Glasgow, with blue sky behind St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral in Glasgow, designed by George Gilbert Scott. As I noted on 27 February last year, Gilbert Scott was designing this building at the same time as Christchurch Cathedral, with many similarities between the two building.
As we all know last February, Christchurch was hit by an earthquake, and Christchurch Cathedral was extensively damaged. Unfortunately it has been determined that the building is beyond repair and the cathedral is to be deconstructed.
This is a great shame, however no doubt some artefacts from the old building will be incorporated into the new construction.
