Impressive Youth Hostel

This is the twin gate house of St Briavels Castle. Originally built in the 11th century it's been used as the hunting lodge of King John, a royal administrative centre for the Forest of Dean, a court and debtor's prison. In 1948 it became a youth hostel and is still used as such today.
