Muddy Adventures!

I have a stuborn streak.
Last week the children saw an advery for a family race day at Huntingdon Racecourse and I said we would go. If you booked the tickets in advance it was buy one get one free, as kids under 18 are free anyway that was half price. So for the sake of £15 I took a punt on the weather. I mean it's been beautiful this last week or so. Then this morning we awoke to constant rain. So much rain in fact that we kept the ponies in, for only the second time this winter. But when 1pm came I insisted everyone got togged up to go racing.
It was so so so so so so wet and cold. we braved the first race on the terraces, infact the kids wanted to go to the rail. We were so close to the action we got splattered with mud as the finishers crossed the line. It was hard to tell who won as their silks were all brown, as were their faces and their horses.
But, we got a first place which gee'd us on. We watched the second race from the warmth of the bar on screens which the children were cross about (2nd place this time). So the third race I thook the kids outside and Mr stayed in the bar. We froze in heavy snow. I lost all feeling in my hands from stubbornly trying to use my canon. By the end of the race all but 4 runners had pulled up, including the legend that is A.P.McCoy.
We went home. There were four more races to come but I gave in and got a chinese takeaway and lit the fire and all are now snuggled watching a movie.
I had fun. The kids enjoyed it but asked if next time we can go in the warm or at least dry. The Farmer did not have fun.

I took a few pictures but this made me chuckle. The cold, wet, anxious little fellas all look like thy're doing some dance routine. Or that's how I see it lol!
