A Big Sky Day
I love Crow Point.
Luckily so does the dog, and Richard doesn't seem to mind it too much either. Tess wasn't keen today and we became the parents who shout, 'C'mo-oh-oh-on!!' repeatedly. The teens did their usual getting up so late thing that they hardly noticed the rest of us had been out by the time we got back.
Crow Point is one of those places that looks different every time you go there. It's exposed, diverse and at the mercy of the tides, the wind and whatever gets spewed up by those two great forces.
Sometimes you can see across - even walk across the estuary and sometimes you can't see very far at all.
Sometimes it's like a family beach holiday there and other times it feels remote, unforgiving and unwelcoming.
But even though it looks barren on a particularly harsh day it is anything but.
Today was a big, fluffy, racing cloud day. Light and shade washed over us constantly - highlighting different things as we walked. And there was something about the slate-blue water and the light coming from the pale sand that reminded me of the far South west tip of Cornwall. I'll never forget my first ever visit to Sennen Cove and the way the light smacked me as I got out of the car.
I took 101 photos today and have had a job deciding which ones to keep and which one to use here.
In other news a lot of clean dry laundry was sorted, taking far longer than I anticipated. Damn those household chores that go on for hours and suck away half a Sunday...
Some of today's other photos in a facebook album: I might be a bit obsessed with Crow Point
