The rocking cradle

Mum looks up at the three story buildings surrounding the square where my sister lives in Bristol.
Mum : they are about as high as the building your father got the crib from. He used ropes to get it out the window.
Me: but I thought it was an old family heirloom? Every new baby has used it. All of us, all the cousins..
Mum: no, actually larissa was the first. Your father aquired it when granton st school was about to be demolished. He sneaked in and got it out the window of domestic science before it was bulldozed.
Me: he stole it?
Mum: kinda.. it would have gone to waste and I was expecting your older sister.

That was nearly 40 yrs ago, since then about 18 babies have slept in it and my oldest sister's baby twins have just outgrown it. It's being brought home for my brother paddy and his baby due in April.

Hope me posting this doesn't get him done for receiving stolen goods.

Otherwise a lovely few days with the twinnies Annabelle and gabriella. Their mum is some kind of Zen master superhero. Wish I could have stayed longer to help out. On train to London to see my cousin g and brother bobby
