L is for learning
I spend most days teaching little (and some not so little) treasures and although it can be quite challenging at times, I do really enjoy it.
So, having spent today doing just that, I thought I should try and take the time to teach myself something new!
Until now I have really only used my camera on the automatic setting - most people say it does a really good job compared to some other cameras, but that is really not the point of having it. So... out came the manual!! I tried to teach myself to take shots with a blurry background and soon learned that it is called 'peripheral defocus' I found some cute buds to focus on in the garden and the result is above!
I am not entirely happy with it, I think it is lacking light or something, but that is another lesson/chapter and looking at the manual I may need to seek some help. The manual is all very well, but .... I think I would learn better when things are being explained and demonstrated..... I feel a course coming on!!
So, a tiny tiny step but its a shot without the automatic setting and that is definitely a step forward for me!
Here is to learning something new every day!
