Wheeeeeeeeee!
Backblipped 5th March
Slightly earlier set off at 7.30am today and got to the base of Chegaga by about 8.15am.
Quick photo of us all at the base and then we set off. Some groups can take about 90 minutes to get to the top so we prepared for a long slog as we set off - however we were speedier than speedy and even with numerous camera stops we got to the top in less than 30 minutes!
The view was simply amazing and we had a wonderful time drinking it all in - and then having fun doing mini jumps off it!
Another group photo was followed by a bit of silence remembering what we were all doing and how we were all helping those affected by cancer. Not many dry eyes at the end of that.
Then we had 3 options for getting down - walk down the ridge, walk down the steep side, or run down it! I chose the 2nd option and it was ace fun! Three people chose the running option and it was incredible watching them racing down - particularly when one of the guys, Jason, fell right at the end!
A stop to remove all the sand from out boots and then we were off again across lots of wee sandy dunes along a dry river bed. Most annoying though as I lost my lipbalm over lunch - though Fiona kindly lent me one of hers.
Lots of wind in the afternoon causing lots of sand to blow up so kept the camera in it's bag and concentrated on keeping it out of my eyes.
Spoilt with another shower at camp at Jebel Bani though this evening we unanimously agreed that Anna needed to go first as she hadn't been able to have one previously and her legs were covered in sand!
A group of kids from the local village came over selling jewellery they'd made. And whilst they didn't barter either we all felt much more inclined to buy from them and made sure that all of them made a sale!
Had a quiz after dinner though the team I was in (Wet Wipes Wonder Women) were a bit pants and came last with 19 points whilst the winners romped home with 43! I blame it on the fact I cut my foot on the zip on one of the mattresses!
And we were all foxed (excuse the pun!) with the final question - if a desert fox weights ¾ of kilo plus ¾ of a desert fox what does a desert fox weigh? Did get there in the end though!
Also only got two of the camels names! (all 4 were Bo-bo, Sillyman, Tyson and Azakabab)
