Going Going Gonu

Cyclone Gonu struck Muscat in June 2007 and laid waste to most of the power and road networks, bringing the city to a complete standstill. To the Omani government's credit, things were back to normal remarkably quickly; we personally had power back within 4 days and were never without fresh water.

This picture shows the road next to where we lived by Seeb beach, parts of it having literally been swept away by the sheer force of the sea during the storm.

The same sea water flooded our villa.
