end of the compact disc

I hear rumours that record companies will no longer make compact discs in 2013. Our children will have a short knowledge of this medium. And will look at my CD collection thinking: 'daddy with his old stuff'.
They would probably look today at a cassette as if it came from another planet. They will probably know vinyl again, though. I am sure that one day they will all go back to real film again as well.
