Bullfinch - with sound
Bullfinches are regular visitors to our garden where they eat buds and love to tuck into our amelanchier.
One gardening expert said that if you are going to have only one tree in the garden then it should be this North American plant with its pink buds in Springtime and berries in the autumn which provide a feast for birds.
These birds are quiet and secretive and are difficult to photograph - this one was taken through the glass in our kitchen window- for they usually spend their time among the branches and dense undergrowth of woodlands.
They were on the red list for endangered species but over the past twenty years have recovered and are now on the amber list.
