In awe of the waves

I painted this picture, in oils, of my grandson when we took him with us to the Algarve on holiday.
This was taken on the beach at Alvor, west of Portimao.
The biggest beach he had seen, up until then, was Dornoch in the Highlands
The beach at Alvor is about five miles long and the waves were impressive to say the least.
My grandson was just about six years old at the time.
He went and sat on this ledge of sand on the beach and watched the waves come rolling in.
He hadn't seen anything like this before and was in complete awe of these waves.
I wanted to capture this for all time and what better way than to capture the moment on canvas.
