Obfuscated Design

This is a quick shot of the sky, again... out of my bedroom window. I was just too busy today to find anything more exciting.

I wanted to take more portraits today, but i ran out of time. And after photographing my entire family far too often I'm also running out of subjects.

As I'm walking around i regularly see people whos faces i would love to photograph. Yesterday there was a cute girl wrapped up in a million layers, scarves, and fur lined hood. She had bright blue eyes, and we were walking past a building site that had bright blue walls set up all around the site and would have made the perfect background.

Just as I was about to ask her for her photograph, i suddenly got nervous - and realised she looked in a hurry, and how would I have reacted to someone asking to take me to pose and take my photo before I got into photography.

How do you guys approach strangers? Do you at all, or just not bother?

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, and any stories/tips on getting people to stop and pose.
