Battersea to London Bridge

I didn't take any blips yesterday, but F and I did have a wonderful night out with Fi and Mark, and I was too busy eating, laughing, drinking and chatting to take pictures.

It took until mid afternoon until F and I decided to do something. I spotted in Time Out magazine that Battersea Power Station was open for tours for a limited time. So we hopped on the rail replacement bus (why oh why is there always engineering works on a Bank Holiday weekend!!), suffered the smell of fried chicken on the top deck (thanks inconsiderate chap) until we got to Battersea (F put the fried chicken box into the bin after the guy left it on the seat for someone else's pleasure). We missed the last tour, but the kind guys on the door let us in. It was great to look around this iconic building. We couldn't go inside, but we could peak through the barriers at the huge space inside. I particularly liked the crane machinery still poised on the Thames bank in front of the power station.

We then walked along the Thames Path to London Bridge and were impressed by the beautiful and unusual residential boats near Battersea. We were far less enthusiastic about the huge amounts of rubbish in front of the aquarium on the South Bank - yeeuurrrgrh! Mainly MacDonald's packing, it was clarted on every available surface. It really wouldn't take much for a person to take their rubbish back into MacDonald's and put it into the bin, or carry it to the next available bin. I know it's annoying that London doesn't have many bins on the South Bank, but... It drives me mad!

We spent the evening in a pub in Borough for a friend's birthday drinks, and enjoyed many hours playing with a bone Jenga set. It was very silly. Fabulous!
