Armenian Carpets

We spent more time photographing the carpets than admiring them. Sometimes the art of production of beauty is more enthralling than beauty. Perhaps producing a beautiful photograph of a carpet is to compliment it, multiplying and diffracting it. Perhaps it is just another distraction, to be too busy recording and 'sharing' something to be able to enjoy it and share it as it is. Perhaps photographs further symbolise an already symbol-rich lived experience, removing its immediacy and permitting further, more abstract, meaning to be adsorbed into their shining surface.

Perhaps it was just that we had brought our cameras with us.
