Hedging our bets

On day two of our cycling trip around north Perthshire following parts of Sustranes 'Salmond Trail' around the river Tay. Our target today was to see the Meikleour Beech Hedge, near Blairgowrie. It is the longest hedge in Britain and listed as the highest of its kind in the world. Planted in 1745, the hedge is 530 metres (one third of a mile) long and 30 metres (100ft) high. Think it looks better in the Summer or Autumn and Claire was a bit underwhelmed. "Is that it?" she was heard to say. Well a third of a mile goes quick when your cycling downhill.
