Four & Twenty
Not blackbirds -- 20 local daffodils for $4!
The last time I purchased daffodils, I paid $6 for 10! What a difference that two weeks made!
I bought today's daffodils, still in tight buds, three days ago at the Community Food Co-op. They came from Skagit County, our neighboring agricultural county just a few miles away. The Skagit Valley is a major tourist destination in the spring as fields of daffodils bloom, followed by wave upon wave of tulips. More than a million visitors come to the annual Tulip Festival, held the entire month of April.
First Daffodils 2012 is a very interesting website about when the first daffodils are blooming "around the world and in your town!" It looks like a good place for Blippers to send their photos, since many of us are charmed by those sunny spring flowers.
No one has sent photos of the Skagit Valley daffodils yet this year, but you can see some fine photos and interesting information about previous years here -- highly recommended!
