Ring

There is a tale behind my engagement ring, and not just that I was obviously a little lighter when I first put it on than I am now.

It belonged to my mother in law and when we got engaged she offered it to me as she had been unable to wear it for a few years. Despite searching I hadn't found a ring I liked and this was just right, it even fitted.

As to it's real story it was made in Birmingham in the jewellery quarter by a chap who was being treated by my dental student father in law at the dental school. When my father in law told him that he was getting engaged the chap offered to make a ring to my mother in laws design at cost, as long as my father in law supplied the gold. As poor students they jumped at the chance and so the ring is made from dental gold, un hall marked and an original.

Hopefully one day I will have a future daughter in law to pass it on too, although I do really want to keep it to myself.
