Tipping his hat!

Back to Holborn Circus and a bit of history again today.

At the centre of the circus, a statue of Prince Albert, the love of Queen Victoria's life. It was unveiled at Holborn Circus in 1874. It depicts the Prince on horseback mounted on a granite pedestal donated by the City of London Corporation. It is alleged to commemorate Albert laying the foundation stone of the Royal Exchange in 1842.

Now, much like I was, it's smack bang in the middle of London buses, white-man-vans, delivery trucks, taxis and general traffic....and lets not forget Boris' bikes. (must blip them one day!).

Despite the fumes, Albert 'tips his hat' to passing commuters, however they pass him by, although it was originally said to be a gesture towards the City of London itself. I prefer to think he is being polite to all of us passers-by.

Top o' the morning to you too Bertie!
