"Mine de rien": remedy for a rainy day

My brain had a slow day today. Maybe it was the rain. The tiredness of stress of the last week. Or just one of those "fogs" I get when I'm tired. Either way, I ended up being anything but effective, aside from realizing that my paper is not done and yet about 7 minutes too long, which means I'll have to cut and finish. Or finish and cut. Or something else, once I come up with a game plan.

I decided however that I needed to get out of the house, if only to buy some milk. I think I've said it before: I don't like my neighborhood: the hookers, the general poverty, the distance from my friends. But this neighborhood has something others don't: my very favorite shop in Montreal, La coccinelle jaune (yellow bug), that doubles as a accessory (necklaces, earrings, kitchen stuff, and so on) and clothes shop, all (or almost) designed and made in Quebec. It's owned by G and I, two wonderful women. I go there for clothes, necklaces, gifts, and general conversation. Today, I had the most wonderful, funny time, it totally made up for the rainy yuckiness of March (when a dog poops in the snow, does its master really think the poop will have magically disappeared once the snow thaws?).

All that time, we were being watched (not exactly closely though) by "Mine de rien", the shop's cat. A very quiet and adorable cat. The other day, she was sleeping in a customer's coat's hood. Today, she napped on my bag, which of course was very comfortable. And then, she gave me some love, hiding in my hair, purring like crazy. I came home, all happy and perky! (still no brain, but there's always tomorrow for that)

Grandma was transfered to a rehabilitation hospital today. Yay!
