Prototype mp3
Back in November I blipped an item from the collection at Liverpool University's Institute of Popular Music. Here's another one!
It's a wax cylinder recording of a 'sacred song' dating from the late 19th/early 20th century when it would have been played on a phonograph. By the late 1920s this form of mass marketed recording had been replaced by 78 rpm shellac discs played on new-fangled gramophones.
