Dolly's Day

WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

30 years ago today was my wedding day. So today would have been my pearl wedding anniversary. My husband Douglas died in 2001 - we had 18 happy years of married life together and I have loads of special memories. Thinking of you today Douglas.

We were married in Gateshead Registry Office. Douglas's divorce had been finalised on the previous Friday, he had a few days as a single man and then he was married again on Tuesday.

There were a few of my family at the wedding - my Dad, 2 brothers, sister in law and Douglas's best man. Sadly my Mam had died a few years previously - I would have loved her to be there on my special day.

After the wedding we all walked across the Tyne Bridge to the Newcastle Arms - a pub in Newcastle - somewhere which was a favourite haunt of Douglas and I. A lot of our office colleagues were there when we arrived. The landlady surprised us by providing a sponge cake.

So a quiet wedding but just what we wanted. We both went back to work the next day and for the rest of the week. At the weekend we went up to Edinburgh for a few days. A lovely place for a honeymoon.

Not done much today - just the usual visit to the Nurse this afternoon for bandage change. Leg is great at the moment - completely pain free.
