An Ill Wind

Acton, Ontario: The sun's shining, a great early Spring day.

Except . . .

The wind's a bone-chilling banshee howling across Fairy Lake. It's minus 15, the ducks are huddled beneath a tree, the lens of my camera freezes after every shot, and I forgot my gloves.

That's a Canadian Air Force T-33 pilot trainer standing in the grounds of the Acton branch of the Canadian Legion. The old servicemen are in the bar drinking beer, looking out the window, and debating the sanity of the idiot outside taking photographs.
