Karni Mata Temple

This is one of the weirder temples i have seen here in India, the temple is dedicated to Karni Mata.
The story behind the temple is from the 14th century when Karni Mata, an incarnation of Durga asked Yama the god of death to bring back to life the son of a storyteller. Yama refused so Karni Mata reincarnated all dead storytellers as rats, thus this temple is home to thousands of holy rats!
I have to say it doesn't smell to fresh in there! The rats are fed with offerings of Halwa and sugared sweets, and huge bowls of milk, like here.
