The Lady at the Window

We went out for a wander and saw this bizarre sight in a flat window.

It reminds me of a short story I read at school which I thought was called the Lady in the Window, but Google can't find it. It was not the Woman in the Window, which was made into a Fritz Lang film and I scarcely remember it, but I think it was from a module of Scottish Folk/Horror Stories. Anyone got an idea let me know.
