Lest we Forget

On our way to Skye for a weeks holiday we stopped at the Commando's Memorial at Spean Bridge. There has been a new memorial garden laid with tributes from Commando's back from WW1, WW2, Falklands and Afganistan.
This cross however was laid near the statue of three comrades which is the centre point of the memorial. Very poignant reminder that the strength of comradeship in times of war and distress mean so much. If you look at the dates they were either friends or brothers.
I think with the current events in the world it does not take much to give a minute of thought or contemplation for the young men and women carrying out duties around the world.
I cannot imagine the horror that is experienced on a daily basis by our servicemen in Afghanistan, even though I served in the Gulf Conflict it pales into insignifcance to the current conflict.
I look forward to the day our lads & lasses are back home with their families and will always remember the sacrifice each fallen hero has made.
Many people think it is pointless being out there, I do.....but it's the politicians that send the men, they go as it is their job. So lets not be cynical and get behind our lads.....they derserve it......Lest we forget.
