The Blacksmith

Here in Mortonhampstead its "Food Festival Day" but amongst the rows of food stalls, up a little side street, it was the old town smithy that caught my eye for todays blip. Not used now, it remains just as it always was and on special days it is fired up to remind us of a time when it would have been the centre of every rural town..

When I was a boy in a small Wiltshire market town, we still had a working blacksmiths shop, on the site of what was once a quay on the old Avon & Kennet canal..
