A mathematician by trade, or was. I met Dissa twenty odd years ago, when he had not long escaped from Sri Lanka. He once told me the story and it was pretty awful, if he had stayed he would have been killed as others in his family were. As it was he was unable to see either his wife or children for most of the 90's until the political situation calmed enough and then they were allowed to leave and join him in Edinburgh.
