Travels with Alfie

London Bridge

I am a bad, bad blipper! Still only a learner and nothing posted over the last few days!

Work has been horrendous leaving no time for finding The Picture. I haven't been able to keep up with anyone's pictures either - sorry for the lack of comments. I see one of my Subscribers has already voted with their feet! Must try harder.

At last I managed to get out today on Dartmoor with Alfie and a camera.

It was an abundance of riches today; after an unpromising start - mist and milky, grey sky - the skies cleared and the sun beat down.

We followed the path of the old Plymouth to Princetown railway which is one of our favourite walks.

We took a turn off for the old disused Swell Tor Quarry where we new these beautiful pieces of granite lay abandoned. The quarry was commissioned to supply granite for London Bridge at the beginning of the 19th century but they fell behind with the work and the contract was lost to Aberdeen. The corbels were discarded and have lain there ever since.

I have put some more pictures in the Folio if you are interested The Moor
