To See New Englandly

Then and Now

There was a time when I would've taken a moment to reflect on this sculpture and consider the artist's message -- that people who think this way have a hidden agenda. I might have agreed that women who use their sexuality to get what they want are not to be trusted. Then I may have argued with myself that it is any woman?s right to use her body as she pleases. Those were the days when I had the mental bandwidth to ponder such things.

These days my brain seems incapable of pondering anything deeper than the origins of the mystery smell in my car. These days I wonder whether I'll ever get my sexy body back and whether I could use it to get what I want -- socks that pick themselves up off the floor, a kitchen floor that doesn't show paw prints, and the smell of sour milk out of my car.
