Paris Rooftops

"Sous les toits de Paris" (Under the Roofs of Paris) is the title of a 1930 film-- "probably the earliest French example of a filmed musical-comedy", according to Wikipedia. This is most fun viewed large--how many chimneys can you count?

This is a mélange of non-traditional Paris roofs, taken from our 4th-floor apartment in Paris 13e, at 12o mm with the Canon 100-400 mm lens and the EOS 7D (which has a 1.6 crop factor, giving an effective focal length of 192 mm). It's a very small slice of this much wider view, visible on the far right of the horizon (look for the square skyscraper and the bare brick wall--very small!).

The buildings with the pointed crests run along both sides of a near-by street--I believe they all have just three stories, as do a large proportion of the buildings in the immediate neighborhood, including the buildings just opposite us in the linked view.
