A Dash of Spring Colour
Ornamental Raspberry - Rubus spectablis
Sometimes called Salmonberry
Native to the Pacific coast of N America, it is grown in the UK as a garden ornamental from where it has escaped and become naturalised. It is very common in the deciduous woods nearby but this is rather early for it to be flowering.
It produces edible berries but they have less flavour than real raspberries. Reproduces vegetatively as well as by birds distributing the seeds.
